These two are the cutest. I have known Jackie since middle school and we have been great friends ever since. Gerald is such a nice guy and they have the cutest son, Julian. After hiring me to be their wedding photographer, I brought up the idea of me traveling out to Cali to visit and also shoot their engagement session. We have talked about me coming out there to visit before, but I wanted to wait until the boys were a tad bit older for me to be okay with leaving them for a few nights. I thought this was the perfect time to do so! San Diego is so beautiful and I had such a great time hanging with Jackie, Gerald and Julian. They took me to Balboa Park, where we photographed the first half of their session (also incorporated some family shots), then the second half was at Sunset Cliff's the next evening.
Gerald and Jackie met while at work at University of California in San Diego. Jackie was the one who made the first move asking him what he likes to do for fun. That started their conversation that eventually led to him asking her out. On their first date, they went to dinner at Cafe Europa and danced to some live music at Moonshine Flatts. They've been pretty much inseparable since then.
They got engaged on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City in June, 2017. It was the day before her birthday, so Gerald had planned an entire day for them to explore the city. They grabbed some coffee and walked along the bridge. As they started on their walk, she could tell he began getting nervous. He seemed bothered by the fact there were so many people on the bridge. They eventually found a place to stop and take some photos. He was meticulously setting up the go pro to get the perfect angle. Jackie didn’t think anything of it. She just kept drinking her coffee as he started to pull a box out of his pocket. He dropped to a knee and she just remember saying “oh my god Gerald!” The whole day was beautiful, like a movie.
I can't wait to document their beautiful day next June back at home in Hershey, PA and celebrate!
